Susan R. Quinn
EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
Over 30 years' combined experience in private business, consulting,
training and facilitation.
The Quinn Company, Colorado, 1986 to 1990; California, 1990 to
present
Consultant, Trainer and Facilitator
Ms. Quinn provides consulting, training and facilitation services to
assist organizations in improving organization and team effectiveness.
Services include diagnosis of current issues as well as development of
approaches and resolution strategies; meeting and retreat facilitation to
address corporate and individual team issues, strategize and develop
action plans; and conflict management and training workshops which develop
individual and team effectiveness.
Susan’s facilitation work has included both large and small projects.
Large projects include a values project for a major CA city government
which involved developing organizational values, training facilitators to
facilitate sessions with all city employees to determine how they would
act on these values, and developing a values team to generate ongoing
attention to these values. This project essentially created a culture
change in the organization where everyone recognized their individual ways
of accepting and acting on the organization’s values. Small facilitation
and conflict resolution projects have included working with individual
teams to address team development issues and to help resolve serious
conflicts. The approach for these small projects generally involves
individual participant interviews followed by workshops for the entire
team to develop strategies, resolve issues and develop agreements
regarding how they will proceed in the future. Susan provides additional
support services that include one-on-one coaching with executives and
managers.
Ms. Quinn’s training workshops include conflict management, where
participants learn about the nature of conflict, determine their roles in
the conflict, and practice skills in resolving conflict. Other workshops
include listening skills, dealing with difficult relationships,
collaborative problem solving, and understanding different behavioral
styles.
Prior to The Quinn Company, Susan owned and operated Write
Right! (formerly SRK), Parker, Colorado, 1979 to 1987; Boston,
Massachusetts, 1978 to 1979 – this was a communications company that
designed, marketed and taught customized business and technical writing
programs. In addition to a number of published articles, she wrote a
textbook, Write Right: A Practical Guide to Business and Technical
Writing.
