Responsible for the oversight of a comprehensive fire protection program for a variety of facilities including 7 nuclear facilities.
Authored/approved approximately 30 Fire Hazard Analysis reports for nuclear facilities that assemble, disassemble, store, ship, produce or chemically recover special nuclear material (SNM).
Team member of the Safety Analysis Reports (SAR) for Buildings 9720-5 and Building 9204-2E.
Technical reviewer of authorization basis documents including Basis for Interim Operations (BIO) and Operational Safety Requirements (OSR).
Developed a comprehensive combustible control program for use in Y-12 Plant nuclear facilities.
Primary member of the Operation Safety Board and Configuration Control Board for Enriched Uranium Operations.
Plant authority on the handling, use, and storage of combustible metals.
Lead engineer for the testing and evaluation of emergency and exit lighting.
Provided technical review and approval of operating procedures, abnormal operating procedures, fire department testing procedures, fire pre-plans, and live fire training drill packages.
Auditor for the Management Self-Assessment for the Phase A-1 Restart of Enriched Uranium Operations.
Routinely reviewed and evaluated hotwork operations to determine the necessary controls.
Investigated approximately 300 fires for cause and to determine corrective actions including two Ford Bronco fires where Ford Motor Company replaced the vehicles at no cost.
Serve as primary response member of the Technical Support Center to the Emergency Operations Center for Fire Protection Operations.

 
Plant Safety Manager: Continental Carbon Company, Ponca City, OK, 1978-1979
 
Developed and managed occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and fire protection programs for a carbon black plant with approximately 100 employees.
Duties included air sampling, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, fire extinguisher training, OSHA record keeping and reporting, dust sampling, budgets, ordering of equipment and supplies. Responsible for conducting all accident investigations, fire investigations, and safety meetings.


Industrial Safety Engineer: Union Carbide Corporation, Y-12 Plant, Oak Ridge, TN, 1976-1978
 
Responsible for implementing industrial safety programs for the Engineering, Stores, and Utility Divisions.
Major duties included: determination and classification of occupation injuries/illnesses, investigation of accidents and near misses, conducting formal safety meetings, presentations for the plant’s Central Safety Meeting, analysis and review of safety suggestions, monthly/annual statistics, and monthly field review/inspection of all construction jobs.
